CURRENCY IN TURKEY
The Turkish currency is “Turkish Lira” and the currency code often used in exchange rate terminology is TRY. For your personal expenditures, we recommend you to bring along US Dollars, Euro which you can convert into Turkish Lira. Credit cards are also used a lot in Turkey.

You can purchase transportation tickets from ticket machines in stations. You can also purchase a ‘Istanbul card’ which may be more useful and cost-efficient.

After arriving Taksim or Kadıköy according to your accommodation, you can either take a cab or use subway, which is very convenient, to reach your place.

The country code of Istanbul is: +90. You can use your mobile phones in Turkey – no need for registration. You can also buy a local card for which you will need to present your passport. You can buy the card from the following phone operators: Turk Telekom, Vodafone or Turkcell.
